ONLINE courses to help guide adults on the right path to become a teaching assistant are being offered by Worcestershire County Council.
The Level 2 Award in Support Work in Schools will aim to develop the skills and knowledge needed to provide support in a school, including safeguarding and communication methods.
Coun Marc Bayliss, the county council’s cabinet member for economy and skills, said: “Following the success of the previous course we’re really pleased to be able to offer this again to adult learners wanting to progress their careers in teaching support.”
He said those took part in the previous course are already starting to see the fruits of their hard work.
The courses, which start on Wednesday, January 5 and Tuesday, March 1, are open to anyone to join, regardless of previous qualifications, and a work placement isn’t required, with those meeting criteria able to sign up for free.
The county council is also offering support teaching and learning advice appointments every Wednesday from 9am to 3pm for those wanting to find out more about becoming a teaching assistant from qualified and experienced teaching staff.
